Philanthropic people frequently use foundations as a means of spreading their benefits to the less fortunate. The Thai Commercial and Civil Code defines a “foundation” as a group of assets set aside only for charitable, religious, artistic, scientific, literary, educational, or other public interests that have been legally registered. The goals of these organizations are typically for the good of society. Non-profit organizations include foundations. They are permitted to solicit contributions in support of their goals. However, none of the foundation’s trustees, directors, or members may directly profit from any profits made as a result of running it.
